Online operator BGO has its own Brexit

BGO’s remote gaming licence for the UK was suspended by the British Gambling Commission due to failed compliance

With immediate effect, BGO Entertainment’s services will no longer be available to customers from the UK, as the British Gambling Commission detected violations against their licence. While details were not yet revealed, the key concern was named as consumer protection. Apart from BGO.com, the brands banned include Powerspins, Vegasluck and Chili.com.

It is not the first time that BGO has received penalties in the British market. In 2018, the operator failed a compliance assessment that prompted an in-depth investigation that lasted two years from September 2019 to 2020. Regulators found BGO to not apply effective procedures for customers displaying signs of problem gambling. Players would gamble six-figure sums without any intervention.

BGO agreed to take measures later on to address hundreds of players who would potentially be classified as problem, gamblers. However last year, BGO was again caught at non-compliant activity. Failings in social responsibility and anti-money laundering controls cost the BGO £2m in fines.
