10bet operator Blue Star Planet agrees to £620,000 settlement

The operator of 10bet – Blue Star Planet – has agreed to pay a £620,000 settlement with the UK Gambling Commission.

The settlement will be paid in lieu of a fine that had been imposed on the company over AML and responsible gaming shortcomings. The shortcomings took place between 2019 and 2021, and were identified in an investigation launched in June of 2021.

The Gambling Commission had carried out a compliance assessment and found that Blue Star Planet had failed in its anti-money laundering policies, procedures and controls.

The watchdog had also identified shortcomings in responsible gambling policies, procedures, controls and practices.

It found that the company set its customer deposits and AML alert levels too high, and allowed players to continue to gamble even after alerts were triggered due to lack of overnight staff to monitor such alerts.

Blue Star Planet admitted to these shortcomings when agreeing to the settlement.

The Gambling Commission said the settlement amount will go towards responsible gaming causes.

Apart from the £620,000 settlement, Blue Star Planet will also be paying investigation costs of £3,571.
